Smokey Brooks' SLOW BURNER

Just happily re-discovered this killer ballad on Now records while thinning out the stash. Conveniently enough the flip is the drum heavy, hook-n-slingish, Portishead break havin' "Spin-It Jig". Smokey really laces this sparce but lovely arrangement.

The Pharaohs - Freedom Road

Nice b-side tune by this spiritual Chicago jazz/funk group who studied under Phil Cochran with the Artistic Heritage Ensemble...some of the horn section went on to play later with Maurice White & Earth Wind & Fire.

ON LOK DOWN

Regardless, the little beaky didn't twit or tear; the eggs can be found here.

Dazz Band - Let It Whip (b.cause prowlin half time version)

Here's an edit I made using a really slow but hard hitting Whitefield Brothers lp cut.
Buy their album here.

Ronnie T. - Any Hair + Instrumental (Mike Tyson vs Robin's Hair)

Hella weird but entertaining Oakland based 80's R&B imaginary narrative from Mike Tyson's perspective...aimed at Robin Givens.
