Here's a new little funky thing I just whipped up after the new year, from old to the new. anthony hamilton - cornbread fish & collard greens (b.cause FSG edit) by djbcause

Recommended Mix! Funk On Sight by Vitamin D

Image
Meant to share this before but got caught up over the holidays, a great mix from the dude Vitamin D out of Sea-Town - this thing is hella creative all the way through, with some funky cuts and solid remixes using a few acapellas I wouldn't mind getting my hands on :)   Funk on sight by Vitamin_D

New Disco Hyphy Remix: Do The On One

Image
Here's one I've been holding for a minute, as usual I added a few chords with the Juno 106 for added effect. Kinsmoke feat federation & rick rock - do the on one (b.cause synth edit) by djbcause

Edit: Let The Music Play/Rock Steady

Image
Here's something that I put together today, inspired by an older blend I used to do using "And The Beat Goes On". Image courtesy of the very talented Victoria Topping , check out site for more visual treats. Let The Music Play (rock steady edit)

80s Indie Funk Edit: LABRYS

Image
Labrys was a quirky two woman lesbian outfit out of Tolland, CT circa mid 1980s. Elena Jordan on the synths, vocals and programming, Patricia Lyons playing bass and backup vocals. I made an edit of the funked out title track, re-arranging and adding some chords and sweeps with the Juno 106. Labrys - Labrys (juno edit)

Love's Coming At Ya - Instrumental Edit

Image
Here's a new edit of a M. Moore jam from '82 - tried to work lightly around the vocals while extending the beat out with a few accents and quick turnarounds. Love's Coming At Ya (instrumental/dub edit)

MJ Remix 2: Scream

Image
Finished this earlier today, might actually keep my promise on the series - haha! Giving it the 80's funk twist with an Mtume edit. Scream (hips rework)

Let It Whip: U-Tern Redux

Image
I didn't plan on making another mix of this song but the idea just sort of materialized while getting ready for a recent gig. This time it's over a heavy uptempo instrumental from the good fellow U-Tern up in Vancouver, from his official remix to Britney's "If U Seek Amy". Check out his website here for more excellent productions and mixes. Buy his records. Dazz/U-Tern - Let It Whip (slap edit)

Image
I generally get irked when the beginning of a track has some good drums at the top but they're faded in! In this case as a remedy I messed with the amplitude of the loudest hits, making a little 4 bar intro with a snare at the jump. Skip To My Lou (drum intro)

R & Boogie

A lil' summertime ditty from last year, gotta love some RJ's L.A.! Somethin For The People - My Love Is The Ishhh (rj's latest arrival rework)

Baby Don't You Know

Image
Picked this up cheap the other day, a pretty decent tune on this Roy Ayers indie label. I highly recommend his "Lots Of Love" lp, also on Uno Melodic. Baby Don't You Know 12inch Vocal
